Giving my life to god?

So I recently just got back from a Younglife camp and it was my first year going. For those who dont know it is like a Christian youth group for high school students. The whole week our speaker would talk about how finding God is the right path. How we can give our lives over to God and how things will be different. I am just wondering how I can do that. How will my life change if I let God take over my life. He has a metaphor like, "Your car is your life, you are driving. You can either hand God your keys and let him take over, or you can put him in the passenger seat and just take him for a drive for a little bit." Im just wondering how my life will change and how to go along giving him life.
