In middle school..air kiss a friend is wrong?

so i and my friend were walking down the hall and suddenly saw a girl air kiss her friend on the cheek..is not even touch..she just get close to to her friend cheek and make a kiss sound everyone just like OMG....so is it wrong to air kiss a friend on the cheek??Cuz my friend say that either you are retarted or a lesbian person to air kiss a friend...is she telling me the true???
